I’m somewhere between perplexed and disturbed that one of the commenters on the linked piece is laboring under the profound misconception that racism can be defined thusly: “what racism is: defining any event or issue solely in terms of race.” Is that willful ignorance given that five seconds on dictionary.com could cure it? Is it a conscious attempt to derail anything resembling a coherent conversation on the topic? Whatever it is, it saddens and distresses me.
