I met Candy when she was in first grade and needed help reading in English at a tutoring/mentoring program for Latino youth in Silver Spring, MD. I’ve been mentoring her ever since. She’s now a 21-year old college graduate, one of my closest friends, and our relationship is one of the things I am most proud of creating and maintaining.”
