[From time to time, we receive emails from LIE readers facing a complicated situation involving race and parenting, and we like to turn them over to the rest of our readers for their thoughts, suggestions, and perspectives.]

Dear LIE,

My 2-year old daughter, who is starting school for the first time next week, will be the only African-American child in her class.  What resources on race and diversity in the classroom can I give her pre-school teacher and school administrators to cultivate open discussion regarding racialized classroom experiences and to help inform the school’s curriculum?
